Does anyone truly think that even if Donald Trump did become president, anything would really change? Of course there would be minor changes just like there were for every previous president, but I believe that as long as there's two conflicting sides of politics nothing will significantly change at all. I think with how we are running things, this country and the rest of the world is destined to fail. If a unified belief does not come to be and if we don't change our way of life drastically, then we might as well not waste our breath on a fight with no possible ending. All this tension and corruption can't last forever because the pot is going to boil over eventually. We will need to run things completely differently because if we don't, we are just going to end up killing ourselves off...

Unfortunately it seems like humanity's intent on choosing the latter option. I worry about the US gaining a president who doesn't believe in the reality of climate change, because then the blind denial will go right to the top of the political pyramid as well as the top of many powerful corporations. And it will encourage other countries to lag even further in tackling the problem. We're already way too late in taking action; we don't want sheer stupidity to hold us back further.

That's not even to engage with the problem of the US military being run by a hot-headed egotist with a misplaced can-do attitude, a woefully simplistic style of thinking and no trace of diplomacy. The climate change will only get us if the wars don't get us first.
