One tip (which will probably be buried) - The 4 Hour Body. Not a huge fan of the writer (Tim Ferriss), but he's a nerd all right, and the diet is based on low carbohydrates, which is becoming the de facto success story in weight loss nowadays.

This is the forum thread that actually changed my life and made me understand about low carbohydrate.

if you want a medical view, check out www.eatingacademy.com. I only recommenend Mr Ferris' book because he includes an absolutely brilliant mind hack called the 'Cheat Day'. Yes yes, but you'll have to read it to understand the psychology behind the cliche.

Thanks for the help all these days later!

In mid-March I tore my meniscus in my knee. I've mostly recovered so far. I can jog but can't sprint. But for a while, I didn't exercise a lot, but I still managed to lose weight. I did it by dieting hard. It sucked for a while, but I get fuller so much faster now. I actually really getting full quickly. When I got home from college, my parents and grandmother all commented saying I lost weight, so I weighted myself and I had lost 15 lbs.

That mean I'm almost halfway through my 40 lbs that I'm trying to lose. Which is awesome.

But I feel like I've only been eating smaller portions, not healthier at all. I've put in a lot of work so far and still have a lot to go, but it will all be a waste if I don't start eating better. Thanks for the resources for me to read up on!

thenewgreen, how is your weight loss effort going?
