Forget about them not wanting to deal with it, it seems they can't. A conservative MP who was a Leave campaigner and is backing Boris for PM told the Sky New politcal editor today that:
Ah the proud British tradition of being a little bit immature and useless at stuff. Now we've had our little tantrum it would be nice to quietly not-quite-admit that the grown-ups were right after all, and just hope no-one asks us about it for a few decades.
Well, honestly, the Leave vote was not Cameron's choice, but Britain voted for it... so what other option did he have? Who could actually lead a ship in a direction they didn't believe in? So what other choice did Cameron have, other than to abdicate? It's not like he could lead the charge forward, implementing a plan he had no passion for, no interest or belief in, and that he thought would hurt the country...
This is all starting to look like an exercise in "the grass is greener on the other side" sort of mentality. I was under the impression that Britain was on the way to double-back.
David Cameron didn't "win". He lost and then made it someone else's problem. If it's true that his opposition doesn't want to deal with leaving the EU either, that means they were either too stupid to realize the consequences of what they were promoting (which I find hard to believe), or - if they did realize - they intentionally screwed the UK by having a pissing contest with no idea what to do when they actually won (which I also find hard to believe).
