Reddit is exactly what the front page of the Internet wants to be. You leave thousands of people on their own with barely any guidelines, this is what you get - in any community. Sure, Reddit's condition is exacerbated with the anonymity that Internet grants, but without personal responsibility - like that existing in small groups, like Hubski - you don't get to wield power without negative repercussions, like lowering of the cultural par. People digress when they have nothing to keep them going; it's true for personal progress as much as for social communications. So, no, Reddit isn't the problem. It's a tool of communication, a mold, not unlike Hubski. The problem, like most of the time, is in the people using it.Maybe reddit is exactly what the front page of the internet is.
