One of the cool things about my job is that I get to work from home a fair amount, which in turn means I have a decent amount of control over my workplace ambiance.
So, that means I like to have a good soundtrack for while I work. Lately I've been listening to a lot of Abducted by Sharks, which is cyberpunk-influenced industrial. But other favorites are the Social Network soundtrack, some good trip hop (e.g. Portishead), or what have you.
But I could always use more! What do y'all listen to if you need to get some homework or programming done?
Mark Farina's Mushroom Jazz mixes are my favorite for working. Really groovy, beautiful transitions and little to no lyrics. Mushroom Jazz 4 is my favorite, but he has 8 out and they're all incredible
it depends on the type of work. if it's serious physical exertion, definitely the album behind this movie: Study, or intelectually challenging: really anything long enough not for me to bother, involving Vladimir Horowitz (Or Evgeny Kissin/ Alfred Brendel).
My mind keeps tripping me up thinking when you posted in Pubski OT on saturdays meant during the night time. Keep missing you on IRC because of it. When are good days to pop in still? One of the cool things about my job is that I get to work from home a fair amount, which in turn means I have a decent amount of control over my workplace ambiance.
So I am typically on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Fridays most of the workday (so call it 8-4ish EST, which is GMT-5). I'll hopefully be working OT 3 out of 4 Saturdays in August as well (just waiting for approval on that), which would be the same timeframe give or take. Hope to see you!
Ambassador 21 might have been the only good thing to come out of the whole Digital Hardcore fad, and they're still going
I generally don't like songs with lyrics when I work. Right now I'm listening to Butterfly and Wall from Fox Capture Plan, the soundtracks from The Hours and Notes on a Scandal by Philip Glass, and some Zero 7 and Massive Attack (though those two have lyrics). The 'Deep Focus' Spotify soundtrack is also pretty good, though a bit too 'chill' for me at times.
Yeah I tend to be the same way, so I'll be sure and check those out.
Man, I haven't heard Crazy Town or Powerman 5000 in ages. I saw Powerman live when I was in high school (as part of a big festival-type thing), and they were pretty good.
