Because they will be the ones living with the thing. Fun fact? US/Mexico trade is about 650 billion a year. 1/3 of that goes through Texas. Politics will always take second place in a sane mind to cash.

We had some guests the other day from Texas mention that they live right on the border and nobody is really bothered by the mexicans. It kind of seem like making mexicans the boogeyman works best on people who don't actually live around them. Like it was easier to hate gays when they weren't our neighbours, co-workers and friends. Well they were, they just didn't come out so people didn't know it.

As my dad says "These people walk across 100 miles of desert to scrub toilets so that their kids can go to school and buy houses. Fuck it let 'em in."

I hope your dad is writing his representatives and phoning their offices every day.

I don't. Boomers are a tumor on the US Democracy. I love my parents, I really do, but man their generation has been bad for this country.

Well you know your dad, so I suppose you have your reasons for giving up hope.

Don't work on my parents, most certainly won't work on yours. We need to get GenX and Millenials to vote everyone from the Boomers out of office and shove them to the sidelines of our government and culture.

Shit. Warren Ellis wrote a comic book about Trump's election... in 1997!!

user-inactivated  ·  2852 days ago  ·  link  ·

Nah, Trump is the Beast, not the Smiler. He's neither smooth not cunning, he's just Nixon part deux.

goobster  ·  2850 days ago  ·  link  ·

Nah, Trump is Heller.

Scarily close to Heller, actually.
