As flag mentioned...I really love Starcadian Maybe one of these is also up your alley? I'd call them 'classics' in this niche.
Here are some of my favorite nu-retro-80's ultra-rares (in order of similarity to your post's musical style): And if you like one more than the others, I could iterate from there. edit: there is a great music video to the Oliver track, but they neutered the audio levels, for some reason. 2bad
Hell yeah, Outrun! I love this genre but didn't know about Wice. I can second Carpenter Brut, Mega Drive, and Kavinsky, and would also recommend Magic Sword
Whatever you want to call this genre, it has been my jam for awhile. This channel is a good way to find stuff. Some particular favorites (links go to albums): * Mega Drive - 198XAD. (With bonus link to my favorite song of theirs). * Carpenter Brut - Trilogy. * And last but not least, my absolute favorite group, Dance With the Dead. I listen to The Shape almost once per week (sometimes more). Near Dark is also marvelous (as is everything else, to be sure).
It's vaporwave. Pure and unadulterated vaporwave. That there are two books about vaporwave lends credo to the argument that it's far more about the experience and posturing than the music... an argument you strengthen by rejecting my honest track in favor of schmaltzy shit with graphics of Larson scanners and neon.
My understanding is actually that both what I and mk posted are really more synthwave. While not at all mutually exclusive, vaporwave tends to not be so synth-driven. mk's video is actually outrun if you want to be surgical (yes, I have encountered people that will nitpick over these micro-genres).
If Drive were more hipster, this is what it would sound like.
