I'm going to spare this place another post, but the State department watchdog turned over a 'packet of propaganda' [WARNING: autoplay video possibly w/ sound]: It's unclear where the documents came from, though Democrats quickly made clear after the briefing that they suspected Rudy Giuliani, Trump's personal attorney, was involved. Can you imagine if there were a dictator in, like, a large, central Asian country that was motivated and capable enough to run a propaganda campaign that would fool a bunch of GOP loyalists and even POTUS himself, with the endgame being the destabilization of our country? The only member of Congress to attend the briefing, Jamie Raskin (D-Md.) called this an "irrelevant distraction", which I don't agree with. Obviously, the packet's origins will require clarifications from Pompeo. Under oath. It's also nice to get a copy of Rudy's TV interview props that he keeps waving around while he promises that it's gonna destroy the Dems, and whatd'ya know, it's garbage."These documents provide further evidence of a concerted, external effort to conduct a disinformation campaign against a career U.S ambassador, who has been the subject of baseless attacks, including by the president himself," he added.
It's not something they should focus on whatsoever in their messaging, for sure. But I think it's going to help frame some of Pompeo's decisions, at the very least, and they would do well to bring it up during a hearing. But then I guess I'm assuming that Trump's admin would speak candidly (or speak at all) at a hearing.
