I remain utterly and thoroughly obsessed with Ukraine's Eurovision entry. For context, I've been buying Stellamara CDs since that meant scouring folk music festival mercados. Azam Ali since before Zach Snyder's "300" made her a pariah to all Persians. So this? this is joy. It's like that time I bought a Front Line Assembly CD at the grocery store, having lived my entire goddamn life in the desert. This, by the way, is Joy Squared. Also Gary Numan's album dropped last week and it's about as Gary Numan as you could hope for.
Revisiting a lot of stuff by Sufjan Stevens. Carrie and Lowell is kind of a hard album for me to listen to at this point in life, in a fashion similar to A Crow Looked at Me by Mount Eerie. But damn, it's a good album.
Got really weirded out when I went to Youtube to find this song and realized the photo is taken literally right outside my door. Like kleinbl00 I've been listening to Go_A on repeat all week, but this morning I stumbled upon the Youtube channel of DaĆ°i Freyr who represented Iceland this year. Last year when the competition was cancelled he did a stream playing synthpop covers of some of his favorite Eurovision songs from previous years. Around 19:40 in the above video he covers my personal favorite, the 2008 song "Divine" by Sebastien Tellier which unfortunately only came in 19th.
