My grandmother was a nursing student in a London hospital pretty soon after WWII. She once told us a story of a woman brought to the hospital after a back alley abortion. She has always been Very Catholic but wishy-washy conservative otherwise, so I was expecting the 'sadness that someone would want an abortion', but she tempered it with how desperate the woman must have been because of how shitty London could be to single mothers at the time. But the main point of her story was horror at the way everyone reacted. The woman waited too long because she knew what was going to happen, and when she was finally brought to the hospital dying of sepsis the police immediately came start a murder investigation before she died, and doctors and nurses were spreading rumors that she must have been a prostitute, because why else would this have happened? Same shit all over again today. Fit's your 'purity model' from the other thread pretty well. The pure don't worry about prostitutes reaping the rewards prostitution and abortion, because the pure don't have to worry about that. -------------------------------------------------- Wherever I was going with that story is lost
