They will never outright make guns illegal. I think anyone who passes a background check should be able to own as many firearms as they wish. Making firearms more difficult to purchase will just restrict average citizens from arming themselves. Criminals can't legally purchase guns now yet they can easily buy them on the street. People will always find a replacement weapon to kill with if they are set on doing so.
