I'm sure most of you do not have an hour to watch a lecture on YouTube - but if you suffer from depression or know anyone who does, this will be the best hour you have spent in a long time. Robert Sapolsky is a brilliant and funny speaker who explains the biological and psychological factors that contribute to a debilitating devastating clinical depression. Why are there so many meds out there? What's going on with our neurotransmitters? Does a family history of depression necessarily lead to depression? (no) -- all these are explained. Also following Sapolsky's other lectures at Stanford will provide a vast and deep education on biology, neuroscience, evolution and so on. The audio isn't bad, but a headset helps.
