Currently it's an exponential decay that is modified by the number of shares. We are working on tweaking it, however. Why is it that you want the algorithm? Just curiosity? We aren't open source yet, but we do have intentions of opening up the code eventually. That will be some time coming, however. We have a laundry list of things to do, and we are looking at some possible major overhauls within the existing code. Once we open it, I think it will be kind of like HN, rarely updated. It's tough enough to develop and keep up with discussion on frontend changes. Doing the same for the backend would likely kill us. :)
