Well, actually OWS was inspired by Spanish Indignados that began in May. Which in turn was inspired by the Arab Spring, that began in Tunisia when Mohamed Bouazizi self immolated last december: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mohamed_Bouazizi
