I was talking with a friend about anti-Christian bias in academia. He stated that there is not really a bias, and asked for an example. He kept pressing me asking for specifics. There are many examples, so for a time, I was thinking about which example I would select. While I was pondering, that person kept pressing me until I got exasperated. That person said, "Do you have an example? Why are you getting upset." My response was that I was thinking about which ones and was flustered that the friend would not let me think long enough to answer. I finally did, and the example is mentioned below:
I then noted one: The case of Julea Ward and Eastern Michigan University. Several years ago, Julea was enrolled and in the Psychology Masters Program at EMU. When they began practicals, she was asked to counsel a homosexual and make them feel comfortable with their feelings and orientation. Julea, being a Christian, did not feel comfortable about this and asked her supervisor if she could refer the client to another counselor who might be able to better work with this tact as she could not feel comfortable, with her beliefs (which are protected by the First Amendment). The supervisor, initially, worked with her and did so. Upon review, the Academic Board for that discipline, over-rode that tact, and refused to grant Julea her degree. In fact, they dismissed her from the discipline. She sued claiming that the policy of the school was errant. When the lower court heard the case, they arrived at the conclusion that, "Ms. Ward knew the school's position to begin with, and that the school was justified in their denial of the degree. The Sixth Circuit (which is the court that hears cases before they go to the Supreme Court: each one representing one SC Justice) heard the case, overruled the lower court, reprimanded the court and EMU and basically ruled that EMU had a faulty, unjustifiable rule that was biased. They remanded the case back to the lower court to reconsider. In essence, they ruled that there was anti-Christian bias in the "rule" or policy that EMU had in effect.

I could go on and on, but here is another circumspect example of bias in Academia against Christian beliefs and views.
