Andersson was one of the founding members of the torrent site, and was the person behind the recent Promo Bay, the platform through which the Pirate Bay promotes an artist by slapping an ad or video on the site’s front page. During one of Andersson’s speeches, he not only announced his resignation from working with the Pirate Bay, but that the site should be shut down.
Good! TPB is pretty bad, I'd say most people who use it use it only because they aren't aware of the many, many smaller and better alternatives. Anyone who torrents anything should be encouraged to ditch TPB and go looking for specialized torrenting sites. I doubt highly that's what Andersson meant by the industry changing, but it's what he should mean.
Depends what you're after, and whether you have the capability to seed your torrents with regularity. There are prominent (within the community), safe private trackers for music, games, books, movies and tv (and porn, I suppose) to begin with -- and almost every other niche you can think of. All with much higher admission standards than TPB. The learning curve is pretty high and for a lot of people it's not worth it, but I've been tagged off TPB before and having to sift to find high quality gets tiring. reddit.com/r/trackers is a surprisingly good place to start, especially the sidebar. What are you after specifically?
