One of my favorite memories of my grandparents is my grandma clipping my grandfather's toenails. He could probably still reach, but it was hard for him, and she pretended not to be happy to do it. Grandpa would lie on the couch watching reruns of Mama's Family while she huffed and lectured him on ingrown toenails.

I miss them a lot.

Thank you for the advice. I'm not really in a place now where asking for professional help is an option -- I'm moving from Boston to Portland, OR in less than a month. But I'm really hoping the move will help me change some habits and form a bigger support circle.

You said this sounded similar to your situation a few years ago -- may I ask what your situation is now?

Hey badger. I think a lot of my dependency has a lot to do with social anxiety and general moodiness. But exercising later in the day is good advice -- I find that after I swim laps at the gym I generally can't be bothered. I shall give this a try!

Regarding attending some sort of support group, well, I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have the balls to show up to that sort of thing without having a glass of wine first, which pretty much defeats the purpose.

Thanks for the response. You're okay for a Hufflepuff. :)

Ender's Game. I don't know what it was -- but when I got to the end and found out that Ender hadn't been playing a game all that time, I threw the book across the room and spent 10 minutes on my bed in a rage. I've never had a book affect me as much since then, and doubt I ever will.

My go-to read is The Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd. It's a beautiful story, and it seems like whenever I need to grab a book for a plane ride or a wait at the DMV, this is the book I grab first.

The books I had weren't TBR, I just can't seem to get rid of books once I've read them. And what's wrong with hoarding on a Kindle? :)

I really love that about the Kindle, too. I had to get rid of a lot of big, bulky classics which was so painful, but now I can just click on my ereader and one pops up....

I've gone over to the dark side.

Something Wicked This Way Comes looks right up my street. Thank you!

I'm open to anything! Thank you for the recommendation, I will check it out.

I signed up to reddit years and years ago and always enjoyed reading the comments, though commenting wasn't really my thing. I tried, once, and it came up that I was a girl and the entire conversation deteriorated from there. These days, I don't even enjoy reading anything on reddit. There's only so many times you can see the same joke/meme pop up before your eyes start bleeding and I'm happy to poke around here and see what I can come up with.

Starting in August, my German friend and I are doing a two-week road trip from Boston, MA to Portland, OR. I'm relocating with my girlfriend because of her job and we decided to make a trip out of it. I'm very much hoping it turns out as well as yours.
