It's just a slower paced site. Where most people actually take the time to write out long and well thought out comments. And that takes time. I agree that we are not many people actively commenting but it's actually quite nice because you get to know people really fast and they become more than just usernames. Can you genuinely name lots of Reddit users (excluding novelty accounts like shitty_watercolour)? I know I can't. But I can name lots of people on Hubski. Lurk moar man and you'll probably figure out quite fast wether or not it's a community you would like to be part of :)
