lelandbatey  ·  4415 days ago  ·  link  ·    ·  parent  ·  post: Could there be a "new" link on the sidebar between "popular" and "community"?

I'll throw this out there:

As a new user of Hubski, I was thinking this exact thing the past few nights. It's interesting, because the "pub id's" seem to be sequential. Additionally, you can find the latest post by going to the TMI Page where it is listed under "Latest Post."

I had actually just begun looking into page-scraping using beautifulSoup for python to make a dynamic page that listed the latest 10 - 20 pages. However, I've put it off a bit till I get home.

Anyway: Yeah, I think that this would be a really great feature, and if mk doesn't end up writing one, I think I may (albeit quite crudely).

EDIT: Further analysis reveals that "pub-ids" are for both links and comments. Interesting choice design choice (for mk), but it means that if I wrote a page scraper to only display stories, it'd have to hit the hubski.com servers many times to get the last 10 stories sorted from the comments.

I feel that that would put to much strain on the hubski server(s), and since mk has already stated that hubski is making no money, I'd feel rather bad if I caused any problems for hubski. So, I won't do it.
