Considering how much time any one given car is parked, It would be much more efficient if cars could be pooled. I imagine that cars that drive themselves will eventually look quite different.

I actually think that one of the unintended consequences of driverless vehicles will be a far greater reliance on public transport systems. I think it could make personal car ownership unnecessary.

And I think you're right in your analysis about the emergence of solar and hybrids. We are starting to see real progress in the replacement of gas-only vehicles. Hopefully in the 2020s gas vehicles are completely replaced.

I would be very surprised if they aren't completely replaced by 2030. One has to wonder what will happen to all of those gas stations. I doubt that there will need to be so many charging stations when most charging will be done at home.

Living in Detroit, it's obvious how much cars changed the urban landscape. I would expect that a switch to EVs, much less shared cars, is going to have a drastic effect on real estate and urban development.

Fingers crossed. It's definitely possible. For me it will represent a significant achievement by our species, and validate my belief that embracing a philosophy based on problem solving is the key to successfully developing a sustainable and abundant global culture and system this century.
