- Store employees say the painting has received mostly positive reactions. It is currently hanging in the store's front window on East 23rd Street above a tomato-red loveseat and a dated wooden coffee table.
They're auctioning it off for charity.
Submitted because hubski has previously had fascinating conversations about Banksy and the nature of art.
This is amazing. I love this guy so much. He's a walking, breathing "fuck you" to the superficialities of our dumb greedy society. I'm sure it's been mentioned before, and any Banksy fan has/should watch it, but the epic documentary Exit Through the Gift Shop is a must-see for art/weird enthusiasts. elizabeth this isn't quite a Cthulu (Chalupa, Chitpole?) glass project but it's just as marvelous.
There's a lot of buildup before Banksy is even introduced. I love the character of the filmmaker (you'll see) more than Banksy himself :D I remember a conversation on reddit a while back about Banksy, and people were calling him a douchebag. He does appear self-centered but I don't think he's harming anyone.
I love banksy and i've seen exit through the gift shop. Changed my mind about Shepard Fairey after the movie.
