winamp used to be my go-to media player back in..... well, a long long time ago.

nowadays I'd recommend either foobar (very flexible, although it can be a bit heavy modifying it to work the way you want it to) or musicbee.

sadly mp3toys stopped developing... back when mp3toys v2 came out it was the best thing on the market, but the developer basically disappeared. :(

edit: I currently use foobar with the DarkOne Theme. And it seems like they just released a new version that looks awesome! You can find it here: http://tedgo.deviantart.com/art/DarkOne-v4-360862076 :)

Have you heard about AIMP? I've heard it's comparable to Musicbee, and I've tried foobar but the interface is a little too minimal.

if foobars interface is too minimal for you, then you haven't digged deep enough yet. ;)

i can also recommend musicbee. It hasn't fallen short on anything that i've needed it to do and it only took a little bit of customization to get it where i want it. I also love the built in format converter and the hard drive in the side bar.

really the only thing that gave me trouble was importing CDs, but i figured it out before long (dragging and dropping will place the CD files in your library but they only play when the CD is in your drive. all you have to do is right click and import).

I've been using musicbee for year but I've never seen anyone else recommend it. Foobar is great too, but I think musicbee's customization is enough for my needs without having to put in as much work configuring every little aspect.
