So, I've been trying to figure out if there's a word for a very specific quality of certain types of musicians. The feeling/word is something like "The Concert is my Church" or "Music is my Salvation." This concept is independent of genre, and I've gotten the feeling equally from Mumford and Sons, Imagine Dragons, Chance the Rapper and Steve Aoki (Seen him twice, only got the feeling once). Hubski, have you felt what I'm talking about? Is there a word for it?
Edit to include, this only really happens during live shows, studio recordings don't ever get this, you need the audience.
I don't know if there is a word in English for this, but it does remind me of the ideas espoused by Jimi Hendrix of his Electric Church. It also reminds me of what is hinted at in John Coltrane's A Love Supreme. Coltrane never spoke about the significance of A Love Supreme in full, but you might check out this story on it from NPR.
"Beginnin to think that I'm wastin' time I don't understand the things I do the world outside looks so unkind and i'm countin' on you to carry me through..." _refugee_ speakin of lyrics
Music can evoke a trance through rhythmic induction. Repetition of a beat affects theta brain waves which can lead to an altered state of consciousness. The head bobbing that everyone in unison does at concerts, the feeling of connection with those around you. These are ancient phenomenon brought to experience through auditory driving. For thousands of years people have felt what you are describing - induced from chanting, drums, etc.. I believe the word you're looking for is trance.
