As of posting:
I recall a string of quakes a few years ago.
- The U.S. Geological Survey said that at first glance, there was no need for alarm, adding in a statement that there was "no indication of additional geologic activity other than continuing seismicity" after the main quake.
I can't possible imagine what they would say if there was cause for alarm: "Please exit these 17 states as quickly as possible..."
You've gotten me thinking about practical (i.e. non-panic inducing) advice they could feasibly give. I don't think they'd say nothing, but they certainly wouldn't tell everyone to evacuate, would they? Maybe? Depends on the estimated time to eruption. You'd need months to get everyone to safety even disregarding where they went. If they only had a week, maybe they'd start moving "important" people, perhaps take steps to safely shut down production (ag, mines, tech) and seal it so that we could dig it up later... Would make an interesting World War Z-style book.I can't possible imagine what they would say if there was cause for alarm: "Please exit these 17 states as quickly as possible..."
one day that thing's gonna blow and we're all gonna be fucked. Until then it's beautiful.
We've been having a fuckton of earthquakes this weekend. And one a couple weeks ago. It's getting freaky. I've only felt 2 of the 5 or 10 or however many there have now been here in LA / Fullerton / La Habra area.
