T-Dog, mrjasonetaylor, jonaswildman, bgood79, ecib and coffeesp00ns
I recorded this tonight. Wrote it as I went along. Not sure but I think seeing the film American Psycho really effected the lyrics.
Go to town on this. jonaswildman would you be willing to record drums? It's at 40bpm.
It's in C.
Feedback?
Because we have so many talented musicians on Hubski, I have decided to limit this song to those I've shouted out to. That said, please start other collaborative works outside of this project. That is encouraged
Lyrics:
Hurry up grab the knife
This fugitive is away
So this is combat
Our knuckles bleeding
False teeth in flight
Hell hath no fury like the night
Her perfume on me
Her perfume's on me
This flesh feels right
No furnace in sight
My body's a machine
My body's a machine
Lying won't help your cause
Just hold your tongue
Words cannot break your fall
Your time has come
Your time has come
I'm going to go away for a while
Don't follow me
You say you don't know who I am
Well that's me
You say you don't know who I am
I am a machine
And I can bite you back
Sharpen up your knives
False teeth and all
Bloody knuckles on your wall
I can tie the knots
Machine....
do we have any updates on this? I've got it stickied so I don't miss anything. super stoked!
Yes, jonaswildman is recording some drums and guitar. He shared some of it with me and it is awesome! Not done yet though.
I've PM'd with jonaswildman and mrjasonetaylor and they are both down with working on this one. Jonas will record drums this weekend. then perhaps T-Dog you can play bass? Then coffeesp00ns you can drop some bowed bass and mrjasonetaylor you can drop some of that ear candy you're famous for. Also fuffle is down to make music with us still and bgood79 said he'd record on this one. ecib -what's your recording set up like these days? I'm excited to be making music with you fellas again.
T-Dog If you're up for bass stuff, can you send me what you record so that I can play off of the funky stuff you do for the bowed bass part? I'm planning something countermelodic and cellistic.
Yeah definitely. I'd almost rather wait for jonaswildman's drums to inform my part, but i have free time at this very moment so i'll just get started right now. If jonas ends up doing his own version before i finish mine, we can use his and i'll re record over his track.
no rush, take your time! I've got my Jury on monday (music in university), so I won't be able to put anything down probably until tuesday. I just wanted to let you know that I'd like to build off of the cool shit you're doing.
Do you think there will ever come a time when we could all be in different states, countries and time zones and play live remotely? Has it been attempted? Is the latency too big a hurdle? This sounds like a good plan though. jonaswildman, T-Dog will record bass and get it to you and if it jives, it jives. If not, it sounds like he's willing to re-record over your drums. Cool!
Hey, I know you've said you limited this song, but I can really hear some bowed bass on this track. Lemme know if that's cool.
Does what you hear inhibit the addition of a "bass line" on a standard electric bass or is it more atmospheric? I only ask because I'd like T-Dog to record some bass if he's up to it. Otherwise, you and I have discussed getting some bowed bass on these tracks before, so go for it.
it's more countermelodic. no bass line inhibition. In fact, it might be easier to hear what notes he chooses for his line so that I don't step on his toes.
