So very strange to see a government trusting its citizens to represent themselves to this extent. We used to do more of that, but over time our politicians realized that citizens were not their constituents...
This is exciting. That's what real democracy should be. Since the constitution regulates the people, it should be written by the people. Especially "Human Rights Law", since every person is touched by it.
It seems like the methods it involves, such as twitter and facebook, will attract young generation mostly. I don't see old folks go on there and participate. This reminds me of what I heard about Norway. When they discovered oil field, they had philosophers sitting in the committee to decide how to spend the future money to make sure the oil money will bring true happiness to Norwegians.
Maybe this should be done in the US. I don't expect the US to draft a new constitution, but it would be interesting to open the current document up for suggested improvements. It might increase people's awareness of what is in the document, and improve the current dialog.
To me, the US has adopted a team-based mentality to such an extent, that people aren't giving consideration to the legislation they support. I think that a different psychology comes into play when people are part of the process.

Thomas Jefferson believed the Constitution should be rewritten every generation. Food for thought.
