I applaud your initiative. Mobile is something that definitely has some big pain points. We are always down to have more people who develop extensions, applications, etc. Just for your information, we are just beginning a complete rewrite of Hubski - backend and frontend. We are going to move away from a hacked arc hackernews site to something that is truly ours and works for us. With this will come a better experience - across all devices. That said, since the team here at Hubski all have day jobs, the launch of the updated site probably won't be until Thanksgiving/Christmas. Hopefully, this re-write will also make it easier for users like you to develop, integrate, and build off Hubski in the future. Certain parts of the site may become open source, we will probably include a usable API, etc. Everyone likes something a bit different and we can't satisfy everyone. We would love to have a thriving developer community who add features and change the look/feel of Hubski as they see fit so that everyone can be satisfied.
So why rewrite the website? I'm sure there are a lot of technical details, but being new here and loving it, I'm really curious to hear you expound on this. Would you please insomniasexx ?
Imagine you wrote a to-do list. A really intense one with EVERYTHING you need to do for the month and how to do it and where you go and all that good stuff. You spent a lot of time on this list and it's organized so it makes sense to you and it has instructions so you can do certain things. Now imagine you left and someone else took that list, thought it was a nifty way to manage things, and started using it. But, this person has different things to do and a different way of doing things. So as they use that list, they start to cross things off and replace them with other things. They draw arrows. They make little boxes and write really tiny so it fits on the area available. They add things that you originally didn't need. Now imagine that to do list is written in shit handwriting and the person now using it must also write in shit handwriting. Now imagine that this person does this for 3 years. Arrows. Strikethrus. Additions. A different way of organizing things. Now imagine this organized to do list is a metric fuckton of code that powers servers that power a website that a ton of people use. Wouldn't you want to rewrite that shit, too? :)
I cannot believe I missed that conversation. That's too funny. I'll try to make sure the game remains somewhere you so and theadvancedapes can still masturbate together...I mean beat the game together.
