( Hey thenewgreen, it's been nearly a month since you encouraged me to contribute, and I would like to apologise for not making you regret that decision earlier :)

If you didn't guess based off of this question, I don't fall into the Normal Person (tm) category. I'm attracted to women with and without penises. As such, I view a matching body as being much more important.

No regrets. I'll admit, I just saw this post and it seems there are some edits that have occurred and still, I'm not entirely clear on the question. That said, I'm entirely clear on what was to me the most hilarious thing I read today: via humanodon

Anyway, I am still too fascinated with my own dick to pay attention to anyone else's.

Well, I was trying to respond to the question because it did seem to me to be asked in earnest. Roughly paraphrased, it was "how would you swing if you had to choose between girls with penises or boys with vaginas?" which should put my comment into context (kinda).

But, y'know . . . the other users in this thread were indignant that rude terms were used to express the idea. Interesting how much of the outrage and calls for maturity are coming from very young people, but that seems to be how it goes.

If it wasn't for humanodon and pablo this might have been the worst post in Hubski's history, maybe it still is.

The question was pretty vague to start with, just trying to understand myself and others and sexuality.

humanodon  ·  3772 days ago  ·  link  ·

While I agree it could have been phrased better, at present I feel like your question has become too vague. I think that the idea of blurring traditional genders and questioning attraction are valid points of inquiry and exploration and that perhaps other users could have taken off their SJW glasses for a minute to consider the question.

I don't think requesting proper use of terminology for something that applies to Real Actual People in Real Life is "SJW glasses" whatever the hell that even means.

doommaggot  ·  3771 days ago  ·  link  ·

How do you get the proper terminology for something that isn't socially acceptable to talk about?

longstocking  ·  3771 days ago  ·  link  ·

I dunno, I manage to do it. It's not hard! The Internet makes it easier than its ever been in the history of our species to research things, even socially unacceptable things that are officially socially accepted in the DSM. That's still not perfect, but we take what we can get.

It's strange to me this kind of stuff is only ever a "SJW" issue to people who I can only assume have no experience with it. Doing even a small amount of research will tell you enough about it especially now that it's becoming easier to actually, you know, talk about it without getting beaten to a pulp among other unpleasantness (though this also still happens frequently enough to be a Problem with a capital P). It irritates me beyond belief that people shove talking about my own god damn existence in an acceptable way to being something only those stuck up, annoying, not-like-me Social Justice Warriors (I really hate this shit too, by the way) care about, because don't worry about it dude you're just a normal guy and no normal guy knows about this weirdo stuff and I dunno why anyone's jumping on you for asking an honest question god some people you know.

I already don't get on enough people about it for fear of being labeled "one of the bad ones", and I guess my fear is justified. It fucking sucks.

P.S. I see people using "transsexual" but as far as I know that is generally considered outdated. I don't know anyone under the age of 60 who still uses it!

If I had spent half as much time trying to communicate properly rather than worrying about what people would think of me this whole mess would likely have been avoid. Communicating properly in non-professional settings has always been a problem for me, this reply took me about half an hour to write up.

Are you transgender? (I think that's what is implied in your post but I'm not fully sure) If so would you be willing to talk to me in private about it? It would help me a lot, but I know it is an emotional topic for a lot of people, so I can understand if you don't want to. I'll be back online in about 9 hours if you are fine with talking.

longstocking  ·  3770 days ago  ·  link  ·

I don't mind. It's up to you how you want to have that conversation.

I think that's actually the "straight" category, not the "normal" category. (Not that I care for ultra-specific terminology like cis-whatever blah blah blah).

doommaggot  ·  3772 days ago  ·  link  ·

I tend to use normal and straight as synonymous. I should probably stop though, as other people tend to attach negative connotations to not being normal.

Would 100% Straight (tm) be better?

user-inactivated  ·  3772 days ago  ·  link  ·

The problem with your thinking is that not being straight isn't unusual, it is "normal."

So, I guess, 100% straight would be better.
