- OkCupid co-founder Christian Rudder is a man obsessed with data. His dating site is known for gathering enormous amounts of information about users — the more questions you answer about yourself, the better the site's algorithm can, in theory, find you a match.
Can confirm that minorities in the dating scene are gonna have a bad time. Gonna break mah code with a buzzfeed link here. And I'm sure there's more data in other places beyond it. I tried it, for like, two weeks. Didn't like it. Didn't like how 'quantified' everything was, didn't really like combing through pictures of people like I was on craigslist looking for the right 3DS model, didn't like interacting with someone online before ever talking to them in real life. It all felt stiff and carefully crafted and just sorta...blegh. I am not a carefully crafted person in real life. I can see why people like it, I can totally see it being successful for people, it just wasn't for me. Edit: the same goes for Tinder.
Sucks to be an African American woman on these sites. Geez. Interesting stuff. And Caucasian men prefer every other race over Caucasian women.
huh, I would not have guessed that. It seems Caucasian men are more open minded than their female counterparts.
Great post! Online dating in general sometimes unfairly gets a bad wrap, but most people don't realize that over 40% of new relationships world-wide are started ONLINE! There are a lot of good paid sites, and a few great free ones if you know where to look. For those who are more interested in Asian singles, the best truly free site we've found is www.Filipino4U.com There are also some good paid sites like Match or eHarmony if you are willing to pay monthly fees.
