So, how does this work now?

You have a dem. president but senate and congress are both in the hands of reps.

Does the president have any control left?

Sorry for maybe asking stupid questions :D

It means lots of bill will die on Obama's desk, but "Free Trade" will get a bit freer.

Soon we will be in the 2016 election cycle, so the activity in Congress will be largely symbolic.

The military budget won't be cut. No immigration reform. No Federal minimum wage, obviously.

An aside: I bet Obama will approve the Keystone pipeline soon.

But many won't. Obama has a huge penchant for compromise. When he sees both houses arrayed against him, he'll likely sign more than another opposition President.

In the spirit of democracy, I greatly respect him for that. In the spirit of sanity, I'm greatly worried.

I was just listening to the Diane Rehm show and they mentioned that in the last 70+ years every president that has had an election cycle in their sixth year in office has seen the powershift to the opposition. Happened to Reagan, Clinton and Bush.

Does that mean that the american voters have always been unsatisfied with the government?

- Indeed, it has been said that democracy is the worst form of government except all those other forms that have been tried from time to time.
