It's a simple idea that we had on last Monday's team meet:
You can choose to get email alerts when a specific tag is used.
Thoughts?
I'm already fair-to-middlin' buried in emails from you guys (my own fault, I know). Probably more work than you were looking for, but is there a way you could code, like, an "alerts console?" Just a basic one-line hypertext window I could find from my page that would show me all the stuff that I might have created alerts for (such as replies to my posts, shout-outs, people using tags I follow, etc)? Would that be that much more work? Because for some reason I think I'd prefer to have it at a remove.
insomniasexx forwardslash It's a good idea. Our current settings page is ridiculous for a very weird reason. In news.arc, Paul Graham was crazy efficient with how those variables are presented and updated. Its basically a Gordian knot that we always found reasons to avoid untying. Starting fresh there is a joy. EDIT: BTW, I do not want to do the same for usernames. As we discussed a few weeks back, tags have the comparative disadvantage of not being advertised in comments. This might help strike a better balance.
Can you get more granular with it? Notification when insomniasexx posts to #goodlongreads as opposed to when anything is posted to that? That'd be cool. I'd even like a notification when certain users post in general
