I hope I chose the right movie here. Mean Girls and Children of Men both had full hubwheels so I went with the movie who had the most updots on their comments. Don't hate me if you really wanted to watch Mean Girls!
Anyways, Children of Men is available on Amazon, Google Play, and here.
I hope you all enjoy the movie; it's one of my favorites!

1) Cashewguy is no longer with us 2) did we ever do a discussion thread for In The Loop? (edit. woops, just saw it, my B) 3) I'm only watching this to shovel some coal into my hate train. See ya'll on the other side.
Fixed that, thanks! Yeah unfortunately that didn't receive much traction. It was a fun movie. Sorry about this. Apparently the opinions on this movie were more polarizing than I thought. But this should make for a good discussion thread, no? I'd appreciate if you and kleinbl00 would hop in next week and tell us why you dislike the movie so much.
On another note I have the movie you suggested on my list to watch. After finishing up Children of Men it's next for my Girlfriend and I. Judging from what I read we're in for a good time.1) Cashewguy is no longer with us

No, it's cool, one of things I like to see is that we're not just watching everyone's favorite movie. Lemme know what ya'll think of it, it's definitely a wild ride, tho. Judging from what I read we're in for a good time.
I'm not sure that's a good idea. The problem is people who enjoy it are gonna get pissed off when you tell them too succinctly why you disagree and the people who don't enjoy it aren't going to enjoy hating on it. That's why I said nothing about it when it was recommended - lots of people really dig the shit out of Children of Men and it's very difficult to remain friends once you've elucidated exactly what you hate about the film. Been there, done that.
alright, I've never seen it. I'm watching now. I'll settle this debate once and for all. edit: Strike that, I've seen this. I think I saw it either with cW or at his suggesting. I recall really enjoying this film. I'm going to rewatch now. Edit 2: Haters be crazy, that there is one fine film.
Ah fair enough, that makes sense. I'm still curious regardless, so if you feel like writing up whatever it is about the movie go ahead and throw it up on the discussion thread later in the week when traffic has died down or even just shoot me a PM.
Gruh, Inception is one of those movies that has a purposefully ambiguous ending that you can think as long as you want about and just find hints towards either interpretation (was he still dreaming? was he not still dreaming). It's a pattern in movies that I really dislike because it's basically a cop out for directors to add depth to their movies without it having any actual meaning. My recent viewing of K-PAX reminded me of this detestable phenomenon in movie endings.
There are certain adored directors that make me grind my teeth. Nolan is at the top of the list. Wes Anderson is right up there. Gregg Araki and Neil LaBute really and truly suck, too, but they aren't nearly as adored. Imagine, for a minute, moderating /r/movies and actively hating Chris Nolan and Wes Anderson.
Question - do you think dislike these movies more because they are popular / well-liked by the general masses? Like, if they weren't so generally universally "acclaimed" by internet folk, would you dislike them less?
In the company of men is almost universally forgotten and I hate it with the unquenched fire of a million suns. Almost nobody remembers The Living End and it's a wretched piece of shit. However, I am reminded with dreary regularity of how many people are wrong about Chris Nolan. ;-)
