Sounds like a reasonable call. I'm not sure why you would need a reason. As long as you meet the legal qualifications, age, criminal background, psyche history, that should be it.
BTW, I dislike the characterization that US liberals want gun control and conservatives don't. I come from a family where most are liberal, and most have guns. -It's such a erroneous stereotype. Maybe things are different elsewhere, but in the Midwest, I don't think politics and gun ownership map very strongly.
I think the mapping falls toward liberal/conservative areas but not because its necessarily a liberal/conservative issue (in the general population, that is...obviously its a liberal/conservative issue in politics). I think it maps that way because its an urban/rural thing. People in urban areas are usually liberal, and they tend to fear guns. People in rural areas lean conservative and tend to be comfortable around guns. I think that's why it becomes a liberal/conservative thing. If we were being sensible, we would try to keep guns away from criminals and not worry about law abiding people owning them. The (sole) reason I don't have a CCW is that I don't feel comfortable with the state having my prints on file.

If this is what you write when the filters on, I'd love to get your opinions with it off. I'm guessing that would make for some interesting discussions.

I'm would fall in to the group of people that are liberal but don't have any desire to infringe upon peoples right to bear arms (outside of a background check as mentioned earlier). But I think we've miss interpreted the original intent: http://technipol.tumblr.com/post/2874977984/family-guy-the-r...
