Setting this up in direct competition with the long-lost Conan Doyle story.
A guy I knew submitted a story he had written to a children book competition which Dr. Seuss's widow was involved. He didn't win. A few years later a "lost" Seuss book came out that very closely mirrored the plot of the story the guy I knew had submitted. The guy who submitted the his story was a nut case. He had a binder of material about five inches thick outlining why he thought the Seuss estate had stolen his book. I'd say his case was pretty compelling. He made some threatening phone calls and said a few "or else" threats on tape. They sent a few detectives up from San Diego and he was arrested for extortion I think. The Seuss family has some sway I guess. I don't know how the story ended, visited him in jail while he was trying to not be extradited but never saw him after that. Is it a lost Seuss? I always have my doubts about these things, might be, might not be. Here is some media coverage and vairous other bits of the guys story. It's probably a crazy wormhole, I can't read it myself, my life got too tied up in that shit when it happened. http://www.scari.org/seuss.html
Oh shit, now I'm down the Charles Augustest Steen the III rabbit hole.
Excerpt from his play about the whole Seuss incident I for got that Charles's grandpa was known as "The Uranium King" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charles_Steen Bunch of old memories of hanging out with this dude are flooding back to me. His Greek style play was way better
