inb4 kleinbl00 tells me this isn't dubstep + is also shit.
mt. Eden is awesome but it's still a step away from south London tunes I learned my groove on. That's totally expected though, electronic music changes so fast. I've been listening to a lot of papadosio, plantrae and Ott. All are playing the festival I'm attending next weekend. Papadosio has a sound cloud with tons of awesome recordings. Snorkel is favorite recent one.
Yeah... see, that's why I generally dislike dubstep. It's not different - it's anthem trance with added wubwubwubbywub. I mean, this shit is twenty years old: But if you inject a little bit of Native Instruments Razor into it, you've got Dubstep. This is older than many of the people watching it: Yet again, wub it up and it's dubstep. We've talked about Toby Marks before, I think. Early Banco sounds a lot like late Banco. That's a career that stretches what? 20 years? '93: '11: That's three times the distance between the Beatles' Please Please Me and Let it Be. Electronic music is static.
I'm still working on my music consolidation/clean-up project. I'm listening to a lot of stuff I have not heard in years.
Pretty excited that this is about to arrive in my mailbox:
I'm playing this piece for my recital. This guy's recording isn't great, but it's the only full one on youtube. I'm in Canada at the moment, but look for the Joel Quarrington recording on Spotify if you can. much better. This first movment of the Bach Sonata I'm doing on my recital. Jordi Savall is playing, and if you've never heard him, he's an AMAZING gambist.
I've been enjoying high-tempo, hard sound of Run the Jewels lately. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLFejWCokwV9SBQqcDfmb9SMDbYpSCIN7x Also the new AWOL Nation album has a very different sound from the last, but I really like it.
getting back in touch with Nickel Creek since seeing their reunion concert in August. Any Sarah Watkins-led song is very important to me
