Is there a story behind why you like the song? Or does it just stand out to you as better than the rest of the genre?
Metalcore/Technical death metal is my least favorite--not much heart. But "Selkies - The Endless Obsession" by Between the Buried and Me defies conventions. The song develops a strong sense of soul starting at 3:50, and the sweep picking in the solo is just bananas.
My least favorite genre is rap/hip hop by FAR. Still I can't hate on Eazy E - Boyz N' Tha Hood... I mean... that high pitched beeping sound is insanely good. Not many songs can I get caught nodding my head, but that one surely does!
Jazz is my least favorite genre, and I literally have never heard I song I actually liked from it, so my second least favorite genre is rap, which does have a few songs/artists I do enjoy, my favorite being Second year in college, the stars aligned and my small group of friends either dumped or were dumped by our girlfriends within 3 weeks of each other, and this song helped lighten the mood about the whole situation. Still has a special place in my heart.
I don't care for country music. The ice cream store I worked at in highschool played country all the time, and I got sick of it fast. What really turned me off was country music fans. If I ever say I don't care for country, and I prefer indie and electronic country music fans act like I am an antichrist terrorist. They say how I am bad for not liking their music because it is real music, while mine is just noise and worthless bs. Country snobs don't even know they are snob, they just think they are "good ol country boys and girls."
I can't stand this song, because it played about 6 times during one shift. I hate country rap more because it is abmsal and cringy but I can't find the song I am looking for on youtube.
This video explains how I feel about country pretty well.
Oh, and Speedcore is silly and most of it just bad. Still, one of my favourite albums of all time:
Normally I hate hip hop, but Deltron 3030 is very great.
He (and you) may also enjoy Aesop Rock, if ya haven't given him a try. Also, forgive my ignorance, but I tried to find "MF DOOM (The Mouse and The Mask) but came up with various results... I dug what I've heard thus far, but do you have a link and/or an extended recommendation?
Perhaps Rap? This is actually a pretty difficult question for me. Theoretically/conceptually, my least favorite genre is country. But there's a lot of good country musicians that make decent music. Realistically, my least favorite is rap. Mainly because of the tons of awful artists. That, and rap is really more of a lyrical style than a music genre, meaning it can be put on top of anything, but most commonly you get urban hip-hop type stuff, which doesn't interest me at all. But mix it with another genre? That shit is gold. Two songs that stick out: Libera Me from Hell - This song has a pretty unique thing going for it, that I haven't really heard anywhere else. It's a beautiful blend of genres that sounds good every time I listen to it. It helps that it plays during particularly epic parts of an epic anime.
Eminem - Rap God - Eminem tends to be a hit/miss for me. Some of his stuff is really good, and then the other stuff is garbage. Rap God is one example of something that I find fantastic. It still falls prey to the "bland background", but the rapping itself keeps the song interesting all the way through. Something that even non-rap songs have a hard time doing for me.
And as always, I like to describe the stuff I like as "interesting". It's not the best word to use, and some people don't quite understand what I mean by it. But there seems to be some sort of underlying theme that makes everything I like "click". It makes finding stuff I like difficult, but efficient. Edit: After reading/watching the responses, I'm not sure what I expected. Hubski, you always disappoint when it comes to music. I feel like I'm a black sheep here. Damn music anhedonia and obscure interests.
German Schlager .. I`m German and everytime i hear it my ears bleed. [ It`s about love, heartbreak and whatnot ... I could write a song myself .. right now. They sing it playback most of the time aswell .. gosh. But i get why it`s so popular it gets stuck in my head so easy. It`s just catchy ..
Yeah, country for me too.
It's hard to classify this song as anything but country - but I'm a fan of anything and everything this man ever recorded :
Like @contra@ I can't stand the country music genre. I hate that twangy slide guitar sound and yes, most of the lyrics sort of blend together for me. I know this is not the case with every song, and I also understand that there is good and bad music in all genres. Something like Metalcore or death metal isn't my cup of tea per se, but I can also appreciate talented guitar players or what have you. For country music -- I usually can't appreciate or identify with anything. I do however like Johnny Cash, but I suppose a lot of people consider him closer to Rock than Country, at least for a certain area of his discography.
