Meddle is a quietly great album. Man, how many hours of my youth was spent listening to Pink Floyd. Too bad Roger Waters jumped the shark at the end.

I hear ya. Now that I'm a dad I reflect on some of the things I listened to and watched as a young man. I was 12 when I was listening to the Wall, pretty much every day. I also watched the movie often at about the same age. Perhaps that's not a bad thing but because I know that you are careful about what you ingest (as I recall you don't read fiction anymore) you can probably get where I'm coming from. There are some really graphic moments in that film. Disturbing even.

But I'm glad I watched and listened, I have always love Floyd and always will. The New Green used to cover Fearless. For the main instrument melody we used a trombone and a trumpet. It was pretty cool.

The Wall is a work of art, no doubt. But damn, it sure is a downer. (Don't get me wrong -- I wore out the grooves on my vinyl, too.)
