Hello Hubski!
I'm mostly a lurker but found this tag fairly unused. Is there any interest in reviving it?
For those who have not heard of Homestuck, it is a fairly complex story which presents itself seeming much simpler early on. It starts with four kids who are about to play a computer game's beta release. The comic starts off like an adventure game using text input of player commands. Early on, these were supplied by Homestuck readers, and newcomers may now feel the story is a bit silly/nonsensical early on. This is no longer the case due to the larger following, and the reins of the story are now completely in the author's hands.
Unbeknownst to the kids, the game is tied into a meteor shower which pelts the Earth threatening their lives if they fail to enter the game. Upon entry, the game moves them and their entire houses onto mini-planets orbiting "the battlefield". The battlefield takes the form of a chess board early on but changes and evolves with each player entering the game session. Two chess-themed kingdoms are pitted against each other in a futile war which the kids must eventually take part in to claim the ultimate reward.
But I digress, Homestuck does not stick to one art style or art medium. Many pages are GIFs, some are Flash, with music and varied amounts of reader interaction. The humor is primarily "satire of internet culture, various game genres and systems, and most fundamentally, adventure games." (from here also linked below)
Some examples are as follows:

Flash Music: WV: Ascend.
Flash Interactive: ==>==>==>!!!!!!!!!
Anything else I've left out are probably covered by the this page created for a Kickstarter campaign for an actual adventure game within the same universe. A "Let's Read" exists for a large part of the story which supplies voice acting for the comic as well.
Someone I know is obsessed with Homestuck so I gave it a go a while back. I found it a little confusing with all the sections, I never got to the meteor shower and the nonsensical-ness turned me off, not saying it has to be realistic, just being nonsensical without much good humour isn't my thing. I'll give it another go though since it sounds cool after the point I got to.
I love homestuck but to be honest, if you don't at least like the style of humor from the first act, there's not as much of a point in sticking with it. Personally, I'm a fan of weird self referencing humor so I loved it, and it's true that it has much more in the ways of plot later, but its core remains the same.
