Melbourne, Australia. Perth (Western Australia) is my hometown. It's winter here. Melbourne is cold, drab and wet in winter. Perth is cold as well (relative to here), but very sunny. I always miss home in winter (haven't been home since 2009), but I'm feeling particularly homesick at the moment. Might be time for a visit soon.
I'm coming to Melbourne for a week in August! Do you have any insider tips about what to do? I'm staying with friends but they're in school all day so my plan is just to walk through the alleyways and find museums and coffee shops. It seems like a cool city, I'm excited to visit!
> just to walk through the alleyways and find museums and coffee shops. Sounds like a good plan. I don't really have any good insight on the best of Melbourne I'm afraid. I'm a 40-something dad who doesn't get out much :) And I've only been here for 6 years. Is there anything in particular you're into? If you're after nightlife there's plenty of great bars. My favourite "secret" bar is New Gold Mountain (the door with the bike above it).
Ahhhh secret locations are always good!!! I'll have to check that out. I'm mostly into coffee shops, and I've heard that good coffee isn't hard to come by in Melbourne, so I'm excited to go :))
