And not in a stalkerish way, I don't need to know if you're currently sitting on the toilet! I'm new here and I was wondering what the average hubskier (?) was like! Where do you come from? Are you on holiday right now, in which case I am insanely jealous?
As an introduction, hello, my name is TheFairyGuineapig, I live in London, UK but I'm from Hrodna, Belarus.
I'm from Brisbane, Australia. An amazing city and a very underrated one.
I'm in Rhône-Alpes, France, but I'm from London, UK. I lived in Latin America for a decade, and when I came back to London it just seemed so weird to me that I got out again!
I'm in Atlanta, GA in the US. I wish I was in London like you, I'd love to be watching Wimbledon in person instead of on my couch while eating cereal. Then again, Cinnamon Toast Crunch is pretty spectacular.
I grew up in London, and every time I watched Wimbledon it was sitting on my couch eating cereal...
Well then, as long as I'm not missing out on the full experience.
Definitely not! The only enhancements I could suggest would be to get up every time there is a break in play for cups of milky tea, and do some complaining about the weather :D
Welcome, TheFairyGuineapig! I'm relatively new myself, but absolutely love the community already. Myself and a few others tend to hangout on IRC quite regularly, with some weekly events to bring in more people. I'd highly recommend it! But as for where I am, I live in Brighton, England. It's an absolute blast down here, if you get the chance come and visit! How long have you been in London?
Ayoo, I'm currently on the floor of my living room, in my flat in NZ. I lived with a Belarusian girl last year in the US! She taught me how to say poop in Russian. Or Belarusian. Not sure.
Huh, that sounds like a lot of fun... As a native Russian speaker, I guess I just take some things for granted, like the ability to call poop poop. I was actually really surprised that a lot of the people I meet ask me to swear in Russian. I mean, it seems a little strange, because frankly, are you going to use this new vocabulary in a regular conversation? I doubt it. Oh well.
This. And I'd also violently curse at my roommate in public situations, and she'd be super embarrassed and nobody else would know what was happening. It's great!!
Wait, you're not going to share how to say poop in Belarusian with us? No fair!
Kakashka!! Now you know. :) Although I have no idea if that's the correct way to write it in english, oops.
Dammit, that is the most adorable word ever. If it didn't mean poop, I'd use it to name my kitten.
Isn't it though??? I guess it's like, the little-kid version (google just told me that, so NATURALLY it's true), so maybe that's why it's cutsie. The Russian language has the best cute-names for things, I think!!!
Hey there, I'm a new user too. Getting the hang of it, I'd like to think. :) I live in Florida, USA, have for most of my life. Currently snacking at 3AM in my new apartment, as is tradition. Finished unpacking and breaking my spine recently - just moved due to some family issues. Things are looking up, though. Also, Belarus! Interesting. Haven't met anyone from there before. What brought you to London?
Hello! I am currently living in Los Angeles, U.S., but am originally from a bit further north, near the East Bay/San Francisco area of California. I'm attending university so, yes, I am on a break currently.
Living in Sacramento, Ca currently. Hometown Huddersfield, UK, moving back in Feb.
Currently living in Wellington, New Zealand. Moving to Honiara, Solomon Islands in a week.
I'm in New York right now, but I live in Boston during the school year!
hey babe Wow, I got to school in Boston too! What a completely unexpected serendipitous coincindence!
I live in a small-ish town in Michigan called Lapeer. I've been living here for a long time, but before that my family and I moved around a lot. I was born in Mena (?), Arkansas then moved to Memphis, Michigan. Moved to Alpena, Michigan (which was a tiny town somewhere IIRC). I want to visit there on my trip up north. From Alpena, I moved to Lapeer. Mena is another place I want to see, but that would be a separate and more special trip. Anyone from that area here? What's it like?
Alicante, Spain. I'm from Beechwood Road, Sheffield, England.
Munich, Germany... but originally from the Netherlands
I'm a programmer in South East Queensland, Australia.
I think this was a good place to start my first post. From Denmark, Scandinavia but currently on Holliday in Mallorca, Spain. I'm 42 with wife and 4 boys. Working with IT (Operations) for 20 years. Came here from reddit as a long time lurker. Like what I have seen so far.
Small town in the west of Ireland checking in! It's summer right now, and the temperature right now is a scorching 18 degrees. I used to live in the middle east so I don't consider this particularly warm, but everyone around me is complaining and hoping the evening will be cooler. When winter rolls around though, everyone will be missing these warm summer days. It's like us Irish people are never happy with the weather. Does this sound familiar to anybody else? I'm curious to know if this is an Irish thing or a People thing.
Until 2014, I have lived all my life in BrasÃlia, Brazil. Now I live in Kyiv, Ukraine. Despite the crisis, day to day life here has not been too much affected. I am loving here, it has the perfect size, where it offers a lof of good services, but it is not so big to be too chaotic. Not to mention that const of living is absurdly cheap.
Ukraine is not war torn, what you see on the news is greatly exaggerated. War is more than 700km away from Kyiv and if you don't read the news you can hardly tell there is a conflict going on in the country. Life just goes on as usual. And, I can eat in good restaurants for the whole week for the price of one meal in an average restaurant in São Paulo. Not to mention that every time I put my foot on the street, I am attacked by a hoard of Super Models. Seriously, women here are ridiculously good looking.
'Sup, I'm from Romania, born in Transylvania (not as creepy as you might think), currently living in Bucharest.
Russia here. Siberia, currently near town Aleysk (born there), but most of time I live in Novosibirsk.
I am from North Arlington, New Jersey which is a boring little suburb that is close to New York City. I have been in America for all of my life but my family is from Peru.
currently in the Netherlands but in about a week I'll be going on a holiday to the Czech Republic with some friends. pretty exited about that.
Chapel Hill, NC by way of Ann Arbor, MI. Had a four year stint in Missoula, MT. Welcome all!
Hey someone from NC! Charlotte here. Chapel Hill is real nice.
Hey! You'll have to come to one of our NC meet ups. Charlotte is a great city! Next time I'm there, the first beer is on me :)
I'm not the legal drinking age here in America yet, so sorry I'll have to pass on that one!
Los Angeles, CA. Just home from the delightful trip to Curaçao. I've grew up here and then lived in NYC, Portland Maine, central Massachusetts, and Sydney before returning here.
Hi, another new recruit. I am liking the site so far, but need to explore. I'm another person from the Uk, currently in sunny Staines-Upon-Thames. How are you finding London?
Melbourne, Australia. Perth (Western Australia) is my hometown. It's winter here. Melbourne is cold, drab and wet in winter. Perth is cold as well (relative to here), but very sunny. I always miss home in winter (haven't been home since 2009), but I'm feeling particularly homesick at the moment. Might be time for a visit soon.
I'm coming to Melbourne for a week in August! Do you have any insider tips about what to do? I'm staying with friends but they're in school all day so my plan is just to walk through the alleyways and find museums and coffee shops. It seems like a cool city, I'm excited to visit!
> just to walk through the alleyways and find museums and coffee shops. Sounds like a good plan. I don't really have any good insight on the best of Melbourne I'm afraid. I'm a 40-something dad who doesn't get out much :) And I've only been here for 6 years. Is there anything in particular you're into? If you're after nightlife there's plenty of great bars. My favourite "secret" bar is New Gold Mountain (the door with the bike above it).
Ahhhh secret locations are always good!!! I'll have to check that out. I'm mostly into coffee shops, and I've heard that good coffee isn't hard to come by in Melbourne, so I'm excited to go :))
I am from and live just north of Atlanta in the US. I am a very recent reddit influx, trying to figure this all out.
