I'm enjoying Devastator dopple bock, by Wasatch Brewery. It's pretty damn smooth and creamy.
I've been enjoying this one lately, so good (and a very cool bottle as well) :
Is a 25 year mortgage a distinctly kiwi thing? -from the description.
I suppose so. As opposed to what, I'm not sure.
I can confirm that, I'm in Denmark. The milk here is so much better than the milk I always drank at home.
What's different about danish milk though? My ex girlfriend always said that, but I never got the chance to try it (I live in the US, never got the chance to fly out there and visit her).
I can't actually put my finger on it. It tastes a lot richer with a lower fat content. Why, I couldn't say. But if you ever have the chance to go to Denmark, I highly recommend it.
The standard, Bells Two Hearted Ale Later, I will be revisiting these: We used to have an IRC drink club in which we would pick a spirit in advance and then all join IrC and discuss. For example mead: We should rekindle that.
I have a water bottle filled with ice and water with a bag of Chamomile tea in it. I usually put Earl Grey in there but I decided to switch it up. I'm not a huge fan of the Chamomile though, next time I fill this I'm putting Earl Grey in.
Winter's here in Australia at the moment. So I'm onto the whisky... Lark Single Malt Small Cask Aged deliciousness! Tasmanian whiskys are absolutely amazing and if you enjoy the drink, I'd recommend them incredibly highly. Must be something in the water!
There are a few awesome ones. Sullivan's Cove is amazing. It won the Best Single Malt category at the World Whisky Awards in 2014. Consistently voted Australia's best Single Malt over the last three years. Highly recommended. Lark Distillery also has amazing whisky. I have this one at the moment and I'm really enjoying it. At 46%, it's super flavoursome and gives it some really rich and interesting notes! Lastly (but certainly not least) is Hellyers Road. I've only had the 12yo Single Malt. But from memory it was really decent. I'd also like to add a disclaimer... Australian alcohol is incredibly expensive... At least here. I'm not sure how you'll go trying to find it at a decent price (or at all!) in Norway. But good luck. I genuinely believe Australia has some really amazing whisky to offer! Cheers!
If you want to play the "which country is more expensive"-game, I think I'll win, although I must admit I thought Australia was cheaper. I'll have to import it myself if I want it. So yeah, it'll be expensive, but good single malt usually is.Australian alcohol is incredibly expensive... At least here.
I'm not sure how you'll go trying to find it at a decent price (or at all!) in Norway.
Just water for me. I keep a cup and a big jug of water next to me at all times while at home (otherwise I always have a water bottle on me). I don't know how to make coffee so it doesn't taste terrible. Though caffeine simply doesn't work on me anyway (damned body chemistry), so I definitely don't feel the need to drink it if I'm not getting any of the benefits. Also I really hate how it makes me smell (especially when I go to the bathroom... like how do people stand that? - and on that topic, how it acts as a laxative is pretty annoying), days after drinking just one cup and my body still smells like the coffee, so gross. Occasionally I get really into tea, but the need to constantly go to the bathroom gets annoying really quickly. Also, like coffee, doesn't leave a good taste in your mouth (really promotes good habits with brushing your teeth, lol). As for alcohol: I would love to get into casual drinking but just haven't been able to yet. Beer for me is definitely an acquired taste, and currently I haven't been able to work up to drinking more than half a can (literally every sip causes me to gag). Liqueur doesn't bother me so much, but I reserve that for parties (I tried drinking a gin and tonic yesterday at home but didn't find it very good, I definitely need to be around friends for that type of stuff). I think sometime in the next month I'll start (force) drinking a can of beer per day so I can work up the taste for it.
In my experience with drinking beer, forcing yourself to drink it so you'll like it is not the best way to go. If you really want to see if you like beer, see if you can find some place that does tasting flights. This is a good way to try small amounts of many different beers to see if you can find something you actually enjoy. I don't know where you are located but a bar near me called World of Beer (which is a chain) will generally let you sample things before you buy a glass. Many other bars that specialize in a wide selection of beers will often do the same. Another option is to visit breweries if there are any near you as they often will have tasting samples at the end. Lastly, you shouldn't feel pressured to like beer just because others do. If it's not for you, it's not for you. I know some people who just absolutely can't stand beer, and that is totally ok. You should drink what you like, not what other people expect you to drink. Good luck with finding something you like and remember, if you don't like beer, that's ok!
Chasing down my last pot of coffee of the day with some green tea.
I haven't tried it but I heard about it. It's hard to find the beer here, it sells out so quickly. That's probably the case everywhere but no matter where I go now people are saying it's sold out. We do have a great place called World of Beer though, I'll have to take a trip and see if they have it.
The World of Beer website is really good about accurately listing what they have in stock and is updated pretty much instantly. Punch in your location and use the "Find a Beer" link to search their draft selection. The beers are listed by brewery so you're looking for Small Town Brewery. You can search and save yourself a trip if it's not there. Although, World of Beer has been a great way for me to find lots of new good beers so you may want to go anways.
I live about 15 minutes away from their New Brunswick location so I go somewhat often. They have this amazing raspberry beer that I haven't been able to find anywhere else. I never thought of checking their website for what's in stock though, thanks for the tip!
If you join their club, you can link your card to an app they have and see what you've tried there before and what they currently have in stock. It's been a while since I've been since I moved away from the one I used to live right near by but if you go often enough it might be worth it for you. Glad the website info is helpful. Cheers!
