I have heard it said (don't remember where, sorry) that XTC is what the Beatles would have sounded like, if they'd continued making music. I can see that.

Good call, I can see that too. I happen to know that XTC is one of mk's favorite bands... the irony is that he doesn't like the Beatles. So there must be a distinction, it's lost on me though.

If you are a fan of XTC, you should check out the Dukes of Stratosphere it's XTC's side project. Super psychedelic beatle-esque songs.

I know it's a tough argument to make. However, IMO Apple Venus Vol. I, and Skylarking are examples of XTC that isn't very Beatles-esque. Of course every pop band with guitar sounds a bit like the Beatles now and then...

I am determined that someday I can get you to like the Beatles. A fools errand? -Perhaps, but I'm going to try.

Good luck. It's not that I actively dislike them, it's just I am pretty much ambivalent. It's like Sinatra. Nothing bad about him, but just not my thing. Same thing with Elvis.

I think your link goes to the "Fruit Bats" video above. I looked up "Dukes of Stratosphear" (weird spelling) and found this, though - interesting. Love me some XTC, ever since a mate hooked me up with "Black Sea" about a hundred years ago.
