I'm currently an undergraduate studying Geology in a southern US university and many of my peers and I both feel strongly towards climate science and were considering studying it during graduate school. However, we all agree that it feels personally hurtful when you explain your scientific stances on climate change and relatives, friends, employers, and others rip us apart and hurl hurtful comments personally against us. For some reason it is wrong to want to study empirical data in the 21st century? I'm actually fearful for the future of climate study not only because of political pressure against it, but because no students will want to go into a field where people send death threats in retaliation to evidence.

I will be starting at Auburn University in the fall with an intended major of Wildlife Ecology and Management. I have thought about studying climate science as well when I go to graduate school. I love nature. I love being outdoors. Not only am I berated by classmates, but by family as well.

It drives me to extreme emotions sometimes with the incredible level of ignorance that surrounds our society. I just cannot possibly understand how people side with the people who are using death threats, stalking, and ultimately just being terrible people.

how are people so blind? why are people so selfish? i need to get some rest before this stuff gets to me any more than it already has.
