15th of August, the day my chest swells with pride watching the parade and the colours and festivities.
Staying outside one's country makes the person somehow connect with patriotic symbols more easily than if that person remained in his/her own country.
So hubski, what do you think of India?(anything from where we succeed to where we fail, where we can improve etc.) It's kinda like an AMA too. So I can try and answer any questions you have about India. And if any other Indian out there can add to it it'll be great!
Note: I do not represent India because it is very difficult to do so, for a country so diverse. The statements I make reflect my opinion and my small understanding of India. Other Indians would give you different insights so my answers are just one of the many perspectives.
My parents are from India (Bangalore) and I've traveled the South many times while visiting family and etc. It is a lovely, beautiful country, but it suffers from a lot of problems for sure (in fairness, what country doesn't?). A few of those problems can be linked to the British occupation of the country, but a lot of the others I think are as a result of some nasty internal tensions and problems.
I don't think I grasp how large and densely populated India is. Where in India are you from? I have a friend that has travelled to Varanasi many times to study Tabla. He loves it.
I live in Bangalore which is in south of India. India is EXTREMELY diverse! Every 100km radius you have a different culture, different food and sometimes even a different dressing style. It is a very ancient civilisation. Hinduism, one of the major philosophies in India, dates BC's back. Thus it has had years and years of change and diversity has settled in just like diversity in a rainforest with time and age.
