Geez, maybe its time someone comes up with a website that encourages thoughtful conversation! We can only dream of such a place.

Seriously though, this piece was pure bullshit, plain and simple. No data, just the musings of an old woman with a lust for nostalgia. The past wasn't better. I can't stand worshipers of the "good old days". Do people texting at inappropriate times annoy me? Sure, but I still feel more enriched in the aggregate with how much access I have to data and resources today, that were unavailable just a decade ago.

I know very few of the people on this site personally, but I'd rather have an argument about Wittgenstein with alpha0 or talk hockey with scrimetime and ElGuapo on this site than bullshit about the weather with one of my boring coworkers any day of the week. Medium is just a conduit. What you do with it is a personal choice.

I couldn't have said it better.

That's what I was hoping to get as a response :) I agree regarding the article, it's pure crap but I thought it could spur some interesting conversation regarding what is or isn't lost via our current technologies. I for one think the advantages outweigh any disadvantages. The only disadvantages being rooted in nostalgia, which is an emission of change. So really what the "old woman" is saying is that she doesn't like change.
