Why are there new users? Did Reddit break again?

Hello, I arrived yesterday. It's so calm and civil here. I'm very keen to see what membership here will become.

I read a post here about the top five reddit alternatives. I hadn't heard of hubski and it was the freshest, most unusual of the list.

Welcome Timothy, it definitely is a chill community. Posts and comments can sit for hours, days and sometimes months and have little attention only to gain a new comment that brings the thread back to life and initiates new dialogue. It's pretty cool. There is no "gameification," just the pursuit of quality conversation.

If anyone is interested in knowing how large Hubski is, let it be known that someone was still able to get the username "timothy." :-) we are thousands, but we are not millions. Heck, we're not even hundreds of thousands...yet.

Only on Hubski would this be a line of questioning.

I was a lurker here for a long time, then one day I felt like writing on this thread and made an account.

I dunno. I noticed we had at least three new users in the last 24 hours, 5 in the last week. I figure there might be a trend going.

How large is the community here?

I'm surprised (pleasantly so) that three new users in a day is considered significant.

Hmm. Well, mk would probably have better numbers than I do, seeing as how this is his house. I've only been here for about six months or so. That said, if I were to estimate, we probably have about 50 users who post on a regular, consistent basis, about 100-200 that post semi-often, then hundreds of lurkers/rare posters.

Thank-you for the information. It great that you can get to know users easily in a community of this size. I had a look at mk's profile and saw that he has 1400 followers.

Well, no drama on Reddit as far as I can see... But it's nice that there are more newcomers here.
