This album won 5 (?) prizes in the Quebecois music gala and the more I listen, the more I like it. The lyrics are quite important tho, I'm not sure how it comes across if you don't know french. Let me know!
My boyfriend bought the vinyl and it included all the words with the chords so I've picked up my guitar for the first time in a looong time. I kinda suck so I've given up on making music.
Do you jam around bonfires or at parties sometimes? What are you go to songs to play/sing?
I was in a few bands in my teens. Played in a RHCP cover band in another town and also with a wedding ensemble. Lately, I'm playing in my bedroom and sometimes jamming at the squares. Haven't tried busking yet. I also feel the need for a full band; I got lots of cool sounds in my head, but I find that playing a single guitar is very limiting. Thank goodness there are drum machine apps and DAWs. Gosh, it's been a while since I played a full song. Normally I play metal/funk/video game tracks/random melodies I heard on new songs by ear. P.S.: elizabeth, it's nice that you picked up the guitar again! How's it going? I listened to the song you posted. I know very little French, but overall, it's just sounds to me. Even when I listen to songs in English, I don't pay much attention to lyrics (except when they are creative, since I started writing my own stuff). Now I got the chords on my ears.Do you jam around bonfires or at parties sometimes?

Cool! It's about consistency in the end. BTW, I used to teach guitar a long time ago and coached a girl in my first group. For me, I didn't feel the difficulties that much. The problem was my peers: I play left-handed, and everyone wanted me to play the usual way, which I didn't do. Of course, I went through the usual hurdles (bar chords, learning stuff by ear). I know that feeling when you listen to something and have the urge to pick your instrument and jam along. Right now, I'm drawn to the songwriting side of things. I feel I transcended my instrument: I don't think about the guitar exclusively anymore. It's more like hearing the song as a whole. That's why I want to play everything, hahahahaha! What do you like most about the guitar?
Honestly, I like music but it's never been a huge passion for me. I mostly like the social aspect and love hanging out with musicians. There is nothing better at a party than people improvising and jamming in my opinion and I'd like to take part too someday!
You reminded me of a talk I had with the girl I coached. She said the same thing: "oh, I don't breathe music like you do". I'm gonna put the same thing I said to her: It's OK if it's not a huge passion for you. It's OK even if you're not that good! As long as you are a cool person to be around and willing to learn, people will want to play with you. Just have fun (and try playing with others right now)!
