It makes it impossible to filter domains because the actual spam domain is "protected" behind a shortened URL.
Edit: I'm talking about the #books tinyurl spam: https://hubski.com/domain/tinyurl.com but as you can see there there are some legit posts that used a shortened URL too.
The spammer keeps making new accounts, so filtering users is not effective against this and I don't want to filter the #books tag.
Oops, sorry for interrupting something important. Do what rd95 said, get off the phone!
I would do that but I don't want to miss if a new user joins hubski.
There are only 3 posts under that domain that are not spam and they are very old, I think I'll have to do this. Thanks.
Spam has been impossibly bad for over a month now. I finally, and reluctantly had to filter users less than two days old. I hated doing it because the new user garden needs love if it's going to grow but it's it's such a worthless shit fest on global nowadays that there was no other legitimate option. I've mentioned that it's a problem that needs attention many times but the only result has been late and insufficient culling of spam posts. It's a bad sign for Hubski when you can't see the trees for all the weeds.
I still refuse to filter new users even if that means swimming in spam every once in awhile, I don't want new users to feel unwelcome or ignored.
mk and forwardslash sorry to bother you with this notification but with so much spam I doubt any legit post (like this one) will be seen.
I'm on it, but mobile at the moment. Going to be doing something more permanent once I'm home.
Thanks but if you are busy you can do it later, there is no hurry.
