What a loss. What a remarkable poet. What a remarkable songwriter and what an undeniable voice. When Cohen sang, we listened. I'm very grateful to know his work. I'll always listen to his music. We have had lots of conversation on Hubski regarding Leonard Cohen over the years. I think it's fair to say that there are many fans of his here. b_b was just taking comfort in his lyrics yesterday. As sad as his passing is, we can still take comfort in his words, in his music and in his voice. Such is the enduring power of art. What a force. Such a loss.
Thank you Leonard Cohen for all the songs and poems. This is a very personal loss for so many people. For me.
Leonard Cohen is an artist I heard a lot of, but never really checked out. This week I've been listening to You Want It Darker and liked it well enough, buy I know it may / may not be his greatest album just his most recent. What would Hubski say are the most listen albums? RIP a great artist.
In my opinion, his best time was early 80s to early 90s. I don't know if there's an artist who has had a better three album run than Various Positions --> I'm Your Man --> The Future. Personally, I think I'm Your Man is his best album, but it has a really 80s sound, so if you're not into that it probably will annoy you. His early stuff is very folk music inspired. Also good, but not what gets me the most.
