I'm thinking of something kind of like the music thread but that encompasses all the other entertainment we consume. Maybe it's too broad but I have those jack-of-all-trades tastes.
I'm going to Vienna! My grandmother was from there (Jewish, left after the Anschluss) so I will of course take a photo next to her old house. I'm visiting a friend who is studying at the medical school there. I'm going to buy so much Lebkuchen and drink so much beer and have so much stodgy central European food like Gulaschsuppe, Sauerkraut, Blutwurst, Sachertorte, etc... This is also a rare chance for me to practice my German. I've been trying to warm up on Duolingo but it's too easy. I should read some German-language articles beforehand. After all, I will be arriving the day after the presidential election.
Every moment not passed out asleep or working my ass off seems to be in Civilization 6. Beat it a few times now, ramping up difficulty and laying new civs to broaden my multiplayer abilities. I should be reading VMWare white papers, but will do that over the holiday breaks.
Rome, Greece and the Aztecs are crazy fun once you get out of the early game. Victoria I had a few terrible starts and losses. Japan was great in that you get the district adjacency bonuses that with a bit of foresight can add up more than you think.
I've been listening to a podcast called "Hello From the Magic Tavern." It's pretty amusing sometimes. There are worlds other than our own! Been playing Witcher 3 when I have time.Hello! I’m Arnie. I fell through a magical dimensional portal behind a Burger King in Chicago and found myself in a strange magical land called “Foon.” I’m still somehow getting a weak wi-fi signal from the Burger King so I host a weekly podcast from the tavern the Vermilion Minotaur, interviewing monsters, wizards and adventurers.
I've been playing Titanfall 2 for hours. In my opinion flawless multi-player experience that has engulfed my free time. Aside from that it has mostly been podcasts during the day, currently listening to Hello Internet. Also just experienced some of Person of Interest last week and finished the first season in four days.
I've been watching Donald Glover's Atlanta. It's on FX and definitely reminds me of Louie in terms of a single person getting complete control of a show. It's intense at times, but it's really good. I've been listening to all the new Gimlet podcasts - particularly Homecoming. I keep wanting to stop because I think it's boring, but it always sucks me back in. I'm starting to think it's actually really good. I've also been playing The Long Dark. It's a great winter game and just a wonderful survival game in general. It's early access and mostly just a sandbox, but the actual gameplay is just super compelling.
